More Seniors Undergoing Cosmetic Procedures

Sixty is the new 50, or so they say, and let's face it- people are aging differently than they did in previous generations. While 50 used to be considered "old", today celebrities like Jennifer Lopez have turned that myth on its ear. Aging people are looking younger than ever before, and a new focus on staying and looking youthful has earned momentum both in Hollywood and all around the world.

Naturally, this means an increase in cosmetic procedures among the 50-plus set. While many older adults are turning to Botox, dermal fillers, and face lifts, they're also getting body procedures like liposuction, tummy tucks, breast implants and more. What's more, with so many older Americans still in the workforce, the push to remain youthful for career purposes has never been stronger.

It makes sense. After all, why should you have to look older than you feel? People are living longer than ever before. Feeling youthful at 60 or 70 isn't such a strange concept. So, why not match how you feel on the inside with how you look on the outside? That's where cosmetic surgery can help!

As we age, our skin loses collagen and elastin, which help keep our skin looking tight and wrinkle free. Combined with natural signs of aging, as well as sun damage, damage from smoking, and other factors, our faces can age faster than we want them to, making us look older than we feel.

With modern cosmetic surgery, there are many procedures that can help improve the appearance of the face, depending on the improvements you want to make. The same goes for the body. We can spend hours in the gym each week and still not get the body we want, or we can relax a little and let cosmetic surgery help where exercise cannot.

If you're a senior and interested in any type of cosmetic procedure - from injectables to surgery- contact Dr. Mitchell's office for a consultation. If you're in good health and don't take certain types of medications, you could be an excellent candidate for plastic surgery or injectables from Dr. Mitchell!
