Facial and Acne Scars
facial and acne scars
Scars don't always have to be permanent with our many treatment options.
There are many options when it comes to scar revision and our team of experts can help you decide which option is best for your situation. Some of these include:
Dermabrasion
This procedure can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and scars on the face, including those from acne. Using a rapidly rotating device, the outer layer of skin is resurfaced in a simple office-based procedure.
Chemical peels are a great option for those suffering from acne scarring especially those with fair skin. The type of peel you need will be determined by the extent of your scars and recovery time is based off which strength of peel you require.
Excision or Punch Grafting
In excision or punch grafting procedures, the scar is removed from the skin and stitches or a skin graft are used to repair the wound. Patients who struggle with 'ice pick' acne scarring are great candidates for these procedures.
Dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Radiesse, Sculptra and other can be used to treat acne scars by injecting them right into the scar. This temporarily plumps and smooths the skin where the scar exists. It's relatively inexpensive compared to other treatment options and is minimally invasive.
As the name implies, this treatment option uses wand-like lasers to remove the outer layers of skin and heat the other layers to stimulate collagen production.
