This 51-year-old Hispanic female presents with a chief complaint of full jowls causing an aged appearance. She previously underwent a facelift approximately 10 years ago. In addition, she desires an upper eyelid blepharoplasty to remove excessive skin of the upper eyelids. On 1/05/17 she underwent a "mini-facelift" and upper eyelid blepharoplasty. The term "mini-facelift" is vague and the procedure varies dramatically between patients and especially among surgeons. Specifically, this patient had a standard facelift incision that begins in the sideburn extends in front of the ear and continues behind the ear and back into the occipital scalp. The dissection extends just beyond the labio-mandibular groove (marionette line) and at least two fingerbreadths below the mandible. The underlying SMAS was plicated upon itself using absorbable sutures.
